The Endress+Hauser success story has been closely tied to the Maulburg location in southern Germany for more than 60 years. The Group’s oldest and largest production facility will now undergo a comprehensive modernization and expansion. The specialist for measurement technology and automation solutions is investing a record sum of over 100 million euros in the Campus 2030+ project to make the production and development of level and pressure measurement technology future-proof and sustainable.
Campus 2030+ will enable more efficient production flows and enlarge the office space. The production and logistics area will be the first to undergo renovation in the coming years. This will involve extensively renovating existing buildings or replacing them with new ones. The first phase of the project, including utilization, is scheduled for completion in 2027. The office buildings will be renovated in a second step.
Dr Dirk Mörmann, managing director of Endress+Hauser Level+Pressure, says: “The project is a further commitment to Germany as a business location. We are creating a foundation for more than 2,000 jobs in the region. Worldwide demand for innovative measurement technology for the process industry continues unabated. The further development will allow us to serve the needs of our customers even better. We are strengthening our global production network and increasing our competitiveness.”
The Campus 2030+ project means Endress+Hauser will be more sustainable in many respects. The Maulburg location already produces up to 45 percent of its electricity needs on its own, primarily through solar energy and combined heat and power generation. Even so, the construction measures will significantly increase energy efficiency.
The new and renovated buildings will be able to operate at an energy self-sufficiency rate of up to 90 percent. No additional real estate will be utilized for the project. Some areas that are currently sealed will eventually be turned into green space. Optimized logistics will reduce vehicle traffic and thus noise levels.
“As a family company, Endress+Hauser thinks and acts with a long-term mindset,” says Dr Peter Selders, CEO of the Group. “This mindset is also behind the largest investment project in the company’s history. With the Campus 2030+ project, we are securing the future capability of our product center for level and pressure measurement while demonstrating that sustainability can be reconciled with growth and profitability.”
