Successful accreditation of the calibration laboratory in Yamanashi

Endress+Hauser's calibration laboratory in Yamanashi has been accredited to the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 beginning of 2023.

A unique accreditation in the field of level measurement

The accreditation of the Proservo and Prothermo product families is unique in the field of level measurement and saves customers time and money. It covers the dimensional measurand (level) and thermodynamic measurand (temperature). An often-required equipment inspection before and on-site of the installation is eliminated with Endress+Hauser instruments, as the company is the only one in the world to offer a traceable calibration certificate for level in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.

Suitable for custody transfer

The intelligent tank level gauges of the Proservo family are designed for high-precision measurement of the level of liquids in custody transfer and inventory monitoring. They meet all relevant requirements according to OIML R85 and API 3.1B. The device is precisely tailored to the requirements of tank farm inventory management and loss monitoring and optimized in terms of cost savings and operational safety.

The Prothermo NMT81 measures the average temperature of a medium and optionally also detects the level. A capacitive sensor up to two meters long provides up-to-date information. Due to the highly accurate average temperature measurement, the Prothermo NMT81 together with tank level gauges such as the Proservo NMS80, NMS81, NMS83, the Micropilot NMR81, NMR84 and the Tank Side Monitor NRF81 is perfectly suited for custody transfer and inventory monitoring.

An investment for customer satisfaction

In 2014, Endress+Hauser invested 2.7 million euros in the new measuring track for calibrating the high-precision tank level gauges developed and produced at the plant in Japan. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art laser technology and can precisely measure distances of up to 40 meters. To provide the necessary space for a measurement distance of this length, a circular shaft is located under the building where the actual measurement is performed.

Especially in the oil and gas industry, measurement accuracy and reliability are the decisive factors. With the measuring section and the accreditation of the calibration laboratory, the company can meet the needs of customers more quickly and thus clearly stands out from other suppliers.

Decades of know-how

The Yamanashi site, located in the centre of Japan, has great know-how in tank level measurement technology. The company was founded back in 1955 as Sakura Instruments Co. Ltd. and has been part of the Endress+Hauser Group since 1978. In 2008, the site was affiliated with Endress+Hauser Maulburg, the Group's competence centre for level and pressure measurement technology.
